We are heartbroken to announce the passing of one of the Day Zero the Series family... Monty Morris, who played "SGT. Farber" in episodes 2x6 through 2x8, also contributed in helping us on the set of 2x4: "Sacrificial Lamb" behind the scenes. He was a friend and fellow real-life Air Force Veteran with Day Zero creator Cal Nguyen. The first time they met was at Van Loi Vietnamese restaurant (the one used in episode 1x6: "Dementia"), where he had heard about the show after running into Cal, who asked him to audition for the series casting call. Although he didn't quite nab the role, Cal saw potential in him so he wrote the character "Farber" for him after he proved himself in not just talent, but also loyalty in helping out, doing PA work on set, etc., which was truly appreciated.

Both men were stationed at Hill Air Force Base at one point, but never ran into each other there, to their recollection anyway. Monty had a gentle demeanor about him and was going places. He at times was frustrated with the performing arts industry, but Cal always reassured him of his talents and to never give up. He was a fulltime federal worker like Cal is, and wanted to break free to work on film, but ultimately decided to stick with his government career. Monty is survived by his wife and children, and will be sorely missed by all. May God rest his soul...
